Kyung Won Kim

I'm a fine art artist from Korea based in Los Angeles. I have traveled far and wide to capture the beauty I see in the world.  Throughout my career as a fashion designer in Korea, I have always dreamed of deviating to an unknown world and found my passion in photography.

My art is delivered from my life's journey through my perspective – experiences, memories, dreams, and soul.  My work is continuously experimented on using various artistic theories, further reviewed and adapted to modern society through photographic mechanisms. I start by capturing subjects that naturally attract me; these are reviewed, deconstructed, and transformed into new images.

My abstract works started from the mundane activity of recycling various materials and finding beauty in its arrangements: vinyl, paper, plastic, metal, even kitchen utensils. While deconstructing the images of these everyday materials together with the subjects in the environment around me - things I found on the street, in nature, and in the house - I found harmony in their combinations. I believe that every moment is ethereal - once a moment is over, it is gone forever. I capture these moments with my imagination to create everlasting images of the moment I see from my perspective.

My abstract results are created with beauty added to the world that reflects my experiences and thoughts.
